In 2023 I want more happiness!

As 2022 winds down, I’ve started thinking about what 2023 will look like. What do I want more of in 2023?

The first thing that pops in my head is HAPPINESS! I want more happiness. Not just for myself, but for my loved ones, my friends, my colleagues and certainly for my clients.

How about you? Would you like more happiness in 2023?

Over the last 2 years I’ve been coached more than ever before in my life and I can honestly say that I was consistently more happy in 2022 than any year I can recall. It’s not because my year was full of more happy things, or less sad or distressing things. In those regards, it was a pretty average year. The difference is that I learned that happiness is my default state. When stuff isn’t getting in the way, when I’m not obsessed with my thoughts or the worlds problems, I’m happy.

I'd love to help you find more happiness in 2023. All it takes is 2 words: coaching please!

In 2023 I want more money!

Inflation bites! Am I right?

As 2022 comes to an end I’m hoping that 2023 brings some relief to the inflation in food and gas prices that we’ve endured this year. One of the things I want more of in 2023 is money. That’s right, I said it and I’m not ashamed of it. An important thing I learned this year about money is that money is neutral. It’s not inherently good or bad. I also learned that I’ve had a whole bunch of thinking about money my whole life. Thinking that wasn’t particularly helpful or healthy. Thinking which turns out to be 100% made up.

So, why do I want more money? To pay bills, to buy stuff I want or stuff my family wants. I want money to be able to grow my coaching business and to be able to help and reach more people. Does wanting more money make me a bad person, or dare I say, evil? Nope. Not even a little.

If this conversation about money had you feeling a little uncomfortable, it may just be that you have some thinking around money like I did. How’d you like to get rid of that in 2023?

If you had more money in 2023, what would you do with it? Go on vacation, buy something special, treat a loved one, support a charity, or save it for a rainy day?

I'd love to help you get rid of your money hang ups.  All it takes is two words: coaching please!

In 2023 I want more time!

Who wishes they had more time? Or less to do in the time you do have?
Me too.

The whole idea of time is a funny thing. I spent years studying and implementing time management strategies into my life. Many of them worked quite well and I still use lots of them every week. In fact, a few months ago I launched a free program called Time Management Hacks. If that interests you, click this LINK.

The interesting part of time management is that you don’t actually manage time at all. You manage yourself against time. Say what?

Once you have some insights into how to manage yourself against time, everything starts falling into place. You come up with fresh new ideas for how to be more productive, what you can stop doing, what you can leverage others to do, and so on.

Do you want 2023 to be your most time abundant year yet?

I'd love to help you get more time in 2023.  It only takes two words: coaching please!

In 2023 I want more sleep!

Are you getting enough sleep?

I have a family, a dog, a business to run to and a few more balls in the air. So, getting the right amount of sleep can be a challenge. That being said, I do my best to get a proper night’s sleep because I’ve recognized how much more productive, happy and easy to be around I am when I’ve slept well.

Recently I read (ok, I listend on Audible) to a book called ‘My Stroke of Insight’ by Jill Bolte Taylor. Dr. Jill is a brain scientist, and this book is her recounting of her own experience of suffering from a stroke and her road to recovery. Among the many things I took away from this book was the importance of sleep and giving your body and your brain the time it needs to recover and heal from the rigors of everyday life.

The funny thing about sleep is that most people who don’t get enough sleep, know they don’t get enough, and they want to get more, they’re just stuck in the bind of life and there doesn’t seem to be anyway out. Can you relate?

I can assure you there is a way out but it’s not what most people think. The way out is actually inside each of us.

Do you want more sleep and the benefits that come along with being rested and recovered?

I'd love to help you get more sleep in 2023.  All it takes is two words: coaching please!

In 2023 I want more family moments!

After a couple years of lockdowns, wanting more time with your family may be the exact opposite of what you want. Not for me. I cherish the time I get to spend with my family. My kids are in their late teens now and as such, hanging out with mom and dad isn’t as appealing as it once was, so I make the most of the time we do spend together.

Beyond my immediate family, I love spending time with my siblings and their families and my wife’s siblings and their families. Even the in-laws are a treat to be around. Time with my extended family is one of the things I missed the most during lock-down. I’m so glad that we’re back in the swing of seasonal get togethers, quarterly birthday celebrations and the like. I love catching up with everyone, seeing my nieces and nephews, who now range from age 5-22.

In 2023 if you could spend more time with your family, what sort of things would you do? What do you enjoy the most?

Do you have relationships you'd like to mend? I can help support you with that. It only takes two words: coaching please!

In 2023 I want more exercise!

Another new year approaches, and another news years resolution to get in better shape is rearing its ugly head.

I ended 2021 suffering a back injury playing hockey. It’s taken a year of therapy to get back to being pain free and able to get back to activities I enjoy. In 2023 I want to continue getting back to a more active lifestyle or playing sports and working out. With the limitations of my back, I’ve taken up walking as a daily routine. I put on a podcast and walk around my neighborhood. To my surprise, I really enjoy it.
When I’m active I feel so much better. I think clearer, I sleep better, and I’m more pleasant to be around.

Do you have a fitness or exercise goal for 2023? What will it get you that you otherwise wouldn’t have if you achieve that goal?

If you'd like help taking your resolution to get in shape past the end of January and make it a permanent part of your life, it only takes two words: coaching please!

In 2023 I want more promotions!

Will 2023 be the year that your dreams of a promotion or a new job come true?

I had a client that I worked with early in 2022 that felt stuck and uninspired in her job. She was comfortable and had many reasons to stay where she was and not risk making a change. After some coaching she had several insights that eventually led to her applying for and getting a new job and she hasn’t looked back once.

What made a difference for her? Well, it’s the same thing that will make a difference for, an insight. It won’t be the same insight of course. Your insight will be for you, for your situation. My job as a coach is to help you into an insight friendly space and to help you recognize and act when you find what you need.

I also have a great product called Interview Simulator that helps you knock that interview out of the park.  You can check it out with this LINK.

If 2023 could turn out exactly the way you want it to, what would that look like? What would you see, what would you hear, what would you feel? Reflect on those questions and your journey will have already begun.

If you'd like support on your journey, it only takes two words: coaching please!
